The NRP18S-20 Rohde & Schwarz diode power probe utilizes three separate diode channels, each operating within the detector range. Therefore, regardless of the modulation type, the average power can be determined with high accuracy.
Measurement results are less susceptible to interference signals or harmonics. The R&S NRPxxS/SN power probes operate similarly to thermal power probes but are much faster. These power probes offer a dynamic range of up to 93 dB, with a measurement lower limit of –70 dBm.

To improve measurement accuracy under low-level conditions, multiple measurement values need to be averaged. While averaging reduces the noise component, it also decreases measurement speed. Therefore, the R&S NRPxxS(N) power probe is designed with extremely low measurement noise in mind. It can perform measurements as low as -70 dBm with the highest speed and accuracy currently available on the market.
New Fast Mode
Unlimited Measurement Time, Up to 100,000 Measurements Per Second
In fast continuous averaging mode, the R&S NRPxxS(N) power probe can trigger up to 100,000 measurements per second, with a minimum trigger repetition time of 100 µs, without losing any measurement values. The probe achieves this measurement speed using a buffer mode. In buffer mode, all measurement data is stored internally in the probe and transmitted to the probe host in a single data block. The R&S NRPxxS(N) probe can operate in the new fast mode without any time restrictions!
Probes for High-Power Applications
Perform Power Measurements Up to 30 W
The R&S NRP18S-10, R&S NRP18S-20, and R&S NRP18S-25 high-power three-channel diode power probes include the R&S NRP18S and 10/20/25 dB upstream attenuators. They can measure power levels up to 2 W, 15 W, and 30 W, respectively. When used with attenuators, the mismatch error between the probe and the attenuator is automatically corrected. The S-parameters of the attenuators are determined during production and stored in the probe.
